BenVirgilio.com Re-Designed!
Welcome to my site, I recently re-worked it completely with the help of a few friends at school. I'm very pleased with the way it turned, I think it looks a lot more professional and has a higher level of usability.
You will find links to my resume, various projects I'm currently involved with and working on and of course my photography! Hopefully I can keep this version of my site updated more regularly!
Me in a Nutshell
I am attending Champlain College in Vermont where I am majoring in Computer Networking and Information Security.
I'm constantly learning and I love it. I have many projects I'm working on and am always surrounded by very knowledgeable people.
About Me
-
I'm a very excited and passionate student in the Computer Networking and Information Security field. I have been interested in this field since about 9th grade and finally decided to pursue it as a career in 12th grade.
I'm a very security minded person, often I think of theoretical and real vulnerabilities in the systems and networks around me. I think about what could be exploited and how to fix it.

Portable Firewall
-
I'm currently working on building a miniture firewall out of a raspberry pi which can give you a portable firewalled network where ever you may need one.
I just pre-ordered my raspberry pi, so I will begin actual work soon. It will run Arch Linux with Shorewall, I'm hoping to make my own web user interface where the user can add and remove rules as he or she wants.
IRC Security Bot
-
I wrote an IRC bot in Python which pulls information from various RSS feeds and then stores and displays the information in the IRC chat. It is fairly customizable and works decently, there are a few bugs that cause it to crash, but I like it. I am not really programmer and it works so I'm pretty proud of it.
You can find it on Google Code:
